Testing out Project Creation

This project contains some initial images and text associated with weeks 2 and 3 of course TZFM201 Summer. The images below have been chosen from the genres of Product, Food and Architecture.

The above is the product image for Marloe Watches.  Marloe is a small brand, based in Scotland, with a strong focus on quality and detail, as noted in the following quote from the Company website - "It takes inspiration, craftsmanship and patience to make a beautiful mechanical watch. We put those same qualities into everything we do, from meticulous design research to lifetime customer service."

In producing this image, I wanted to ensure the name of the Company was clear and that aspects of the detail and quality of the watch was captured, including the texture within the watch face itself and the different finishes to the second, minute and hour hands. I was attempting to create an image that could be seen within a magazine advertorial.

The second image is of a section of the exterior of the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.  The Centre is Wales' national arts centre, hosting shows, events and experiences, from critically acclaimed musical theatre, comedy and dance to intimate, ground-breaking cabaret.  Phase 1 was opened in 2004 and phase 2 in 2009.

The copper structure above the front entrance represents Wales’ once-prolific copper industry. It’s pierced with giant letters which spell out inscriptions by poet Gwyneth Lewis: “In these stones, horizons sing” and “Creu gwir fel gwydr o ffwrnais awen”. 

I wanted the image to be thought-provoking, so I captured a small section of the front entrance, in a more abstract manner

The final image is of the main entrance to Caerphilly Castle.  I felt the structure and light on the day support a black & white image.  I wanted to portray the strength and durability of the structure, but also the vulnerability, hence the inclusion of the broken tower on the left and the off-centre positioning of the entrance bridge
